Hi
I am Claire and I would like to tell you about my love for parchment craft.

To me parchment craft is an art, where it is possible to indulge my feelings in a stress free, creative way that accurately reflects how I feel at any given time.  I don’t like rules, I don’t like being told that things should be done one way and not another.  I like to push the boundaries of the craft by using tools and mediums in many different ways.

My patterns are always hand drawn and certainly never symmetrical.  They allow room for adaptation where your own creativity will come to the fore.  You may make the occasional mistake, I like to think of them as `happy accidents`.   The very nature of my patterns is forgiving; you will easily be able to camouflage a `happy accident` without it looking like an error.

I have taken the time and trouble to ensure that only basic tools are required for you to complete my patterns.  I don’t want you to have to rush out and buy a specific tool that you don’t own in order to complete a piece.  I will not tell you how to paint a piece of work, nor how to emboss it, that is not my job but I will tell you of any tips I have that will help you to complete the work.  These tips were discovered through making my own errors in making the original pieces.

I would be delighted if you were to treat my patterns as if they were your own.  Change the things that do not appeal to you.  Add your own dash of creativity, express your feelings and be bold and adventurous.

I very rarely make up other designers patterns, not because I dislike them, but because I find it very difficult to follow a pattern….even my own!  Sometimes you may notice a difference between the pattern and the finished design.  This is because I make the design up into a finished piece before I prepare the pattern.  When I make the pattern I correct all the mistakes that occurred as I made the finished piece.  Therefore, as a result the pattern is actually an improvement on the original I worked with.

I hope you enjoy creating your own original Lady Manita design as much as I did creating the original
Regards

Claire
